Official visit to look at Downs Road and Canford Lane problems
Councillor Kye Dudd (cabinet member for transport and energy) met local residents in Canford Lane and the Downs Road about road issues in these areas of Westbury-on-Trym.
Local campaigner Graham Donald invited Councillor Dudd to see for himself the challenge of crossing Canford Lane amid the frequent traffic.Councillor Dudd visited both locations on 30 July and met and chatted with local residents. He agreed to consider whether a crossing on Canford Lane could be funded from monies allocated to the A4018 improvements.
Councillor Dudd will arrange for a highways engineer to visit residents from the Downs Road and Great Brockeridge area to discuss their concerns about the lack of access to and from their homes if the current A4018 proposals are not changed. As reported in previous editions of the Henleaze and Westbury Voice, the proposed turning restrictions on the Falcondale Road/Westbury Road junction from Downs Road will impact residents living locally.
Graham Donald said: “This was an encouraging visit and I felt that Kye Dudd was listening to residents’ concerns and keen to help. He now needs to follow up with some concrete action.”
