Memory Cafés share their successes

Local charity Bristol Dementia Action Alliance hosted a Memory Café Celebration Evening on November 27 at Christ Church, Clifton.

Three Bristol Memory Cafes gave presentations about their work and shared insights and successes as well as challenges.

Rachel Price spoke about working in the BRI and running a café. Leanne shared about Holy Trinity’s café and how she arranges special trips as well as the regular café. Jakki Whitehead and Marilisa from Riversway’s ‘Forget me Not’ shared their great cake successes.

Pete Conway from The Alzheimer’s Society shared some updates and networking and volunteering opportunities. Isobel Jones from Alive spoke about the 350 care homes they support and how they promote engagement.

Mike Knight from Keynsham Dementia Action Alliance spoke about their challenges and successes setting up the DAA.

BDAA Chair, Tony spoke passionately about the first five years of BDAA and their plans for the future. Tony’s call for action was for more supporters to aid the charity in their reach and aim to make Bristol THE Dementia City of the UK.
